If you want to arrive earlier this is absolutely fine, however please note that you may not be able to check into your room until 2pm. You are more than welcome to leave your bags in the foyer; the hotel staff can provide recommendations whilst you wait.

Fitness Level

You will need a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy this trip. Your visit to Petra requires quite a lot of walking however it is entirely up to you how much energy you expand there. Beginners level and upwards are welcomed for the Yoga lessons.

Departure Tax

The departure tax is included in your air ticket. If departing by land an 8 JOD departure tax is required for all nationalities to be paid in cash.

Tipping

Tipping (also widely referred to by its Arabic term as “baksheesh”) is a way of life in the Middle East. Locals themselves will usually tip anyone who provides them with services. In many cases, people depend on the tips they receive to supplement the low salary and wages of the Middle East region.

While on tour in the Middle East, it is customary and even expected to tip small service providers such as restaurant and bar waiters, hotel staff, reception, cleaning personnel, bell boys, taxis and van drivers. Tips are regarded as an essential means of supplementing income for those working in the tourism industry.

Tipping your tour guide at the end of the trip is also expected and appreciated should you feel they made your tour enjoyable. The amount is to your personal discretion however the recommended guideline is between $35-$40USD per person per week.

Local Dress

When visiting religious monuments and mosques you should be conscious of your dress code. You should not wear skirts or short shorts and your shoulders should be covered. We adopt a respectful attitude towards other cultures being mindful that the local dress is often more conservative in Jordan. We recommend loose-fitting clothing with your shoulders covered. Your guide can provide you with further advice.

Finishing Point Instructions

Your tour ends at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar/Dead Sea. We will require your flight details at least 1 month prior to the tour to secure your private return transfer to Amman airport, which is approximately a 1-hour journey from the Dead Sea. Should you be staying on in Jordan or departing from a different location; our staff can assist. Please inquire with us upon booking.

Money Exchange

ATMs in Jordan are predominant in principal cities and will generally accept cards on the Mastercard and Visa networks. Larger restaurants and stores accept credit cards, which is the safest way to carry money. Please consult with your bank before your trip. There is no guarantee that your debit/credit cards will actually work in the Middle East.

Note that when using your credit card there is generally a fee of 5-10% when purchasing products or services.

Carrying large amounts of cash can be a high risk. We recommend a combination of cash and cards. Bear in mind ATMs are sometimes inaccessible. US dollars, British Pounds and the Euro are all quite easy to exchange to local currency. Banks and some hotels provide an exchange service. Travellers cheques can be difficult to change in Jordan and we do not recommend them as your soul source of funds.
